A bunch of little mushrooms attack the enemy. Finding "Myconoids": Once you get Serge back, take Funguy back to the cave where you found him. Talk to the mushroom there.

Lisa's father in Termina has a terminal liking for mushrooms - when you feed him a particularly mysterious one, he turns into a mushroom man. Much like Ashton from Star Ocean 2, he claims that his transformation is your fault and tags along, hoping that the Frozen Flame can return him to normal.
