Description:

This game rocks. If you've played the video game based on the 90's cartoon then imagine a game about 5 times as good. All your favorite Spider-man villians in this: Green Goblin, Dr. Octopus, Lizard, Venom, Carnage (yes, even Venom and Carnage). The sprites and levels are absolutely gorgeous.

The gameplay is fairly mundane; you've got your web attack button, your punch/kick button, your run button, a jump button, and a right/left web swing button. I've played up to the battle with the Green Goblin (Stage 3-2, I believe) and all of the enemies and bosses so far have been ridiculously easy. With the exception of Green Goblin most of the bosses I've encountered were easily dispatched using very simple tactics. Despite its easiness, this is a hella fun game if you're a Spidey fan, or if you picked up the Spider-Man movies and they left you craving some interactive Spidey goodness without shelling out the greenbacks for the Next-Gen Spidey movie-based games.

Hacking-wise this is a fairly straight-forward hack. The pointers have been found (took me about 3 months to figure those things out), and a preliminary script has been dumped. A sample script containing the first few strings or so can be found below.

There's an entire English Alphabet along with the Japanese kana already in the game, so I'll be using that for the translation because its got a distinct comic book look that I was looking for. Perhaps this game was originally intended to get a Stateside release, who knows.
