Mission 8: To Chain the Beast

Conditions for winning

Conditions for losing

Start off by defending your base really well with two times the Sunken Colonies and Hydralisks you usually have. Enemies will come in large numbers in air as well as ground, so have Spore Colonies scattered across your base as well.

Dark Templar are very useful as they are cloaked, powerful, and already fully upgraded. Get a good amount of Hydralisks, Zerglings, Lurkers, and a few Drones, and move them all north toward an enemy base and mineral deposit.

Take over that area, move a little bit of your troops back to your main base for mobile defense, and leave the rest there to defend the new base while it's building.

Once it's finished, make tons of Sunken and Spore Colonies along the east coast a bit on the south coast. When both of your bases are going strong, push in a southeast direction and take over the minerals there. Build and fortify another expasion there and keep pumping out Hydralisks and Zerglings.

Research Overlord speed, and make 12 fully loaded Overlords containing combinations of Ultralisks, Lurkers, Hydralisks and Zerglings. Put in a group of 12 Guardians and 12 Mutalisks for good measure, and creep along the southern edge of the map.

When you arrive at the second mineral deposit you see, move north and drop all your units when you see anything. Attack with all your force. If it doesn't succeed, expand to those two vacant mineral spots you saw, as your bases will be going fairly strong, and continue with waves of air attacks on the Overmind in the northeast corner of the map.

When you destroy the Overmind with your waves of units that you afford with the new expansions, the mission is over.
