Mission 3: Desperate Alliance

Conditions for winning:

Conditions for losing:

When you start off, you immediately have to repair the bunkers and vultures waiting for you. Get all your SCVs to mine minerals, and build lots more, as you have plenty of minerals.

Start building Barracks until you have about 2 or 3. Start pumping out Marines, and place them on ledges and before the bunkers. You may build additional bunkers beside the existing ones if you wish. Place Missile Turrets along the northern edge, because Mutalisks will attack later. Build an Academy and start pumping out Firebats as well.

When you have 2 groups of mixed Marines and Firebats that aren't in bunkers, highlight and tell the two groups to attack random places on the map, near the north. This should set back the Zerg some, and build Vultures to help with the Marines.

If you research Spider Mines and lay them, the Zerg shouldn't be able to even get near your base. Mutalisks pose the only serious threat to your mining process, so again, place Missile Turrets along the norther edge of your base, around 3 Turrets or so.

With about 30 seconds remaining the Zerg will launch a final attack on both entrances. Be prepared for this with large amounts of Firebats and Marines. Then, Dropships will arrive and the mission will be over.

There are two ways to play this mission; either defensively or offensively. Personally, I prefer defense, because it's more fun than sitting around for the Dropships arrive, but you can also start killing the Zerg before they arrive and eliminate the threat from the source.
