| Welcome to waterworld, aka Atlantica. Before you head there, if you think about it, Disney's The Little Mermaid took place almost entirely underwater, this world is no different. But your party can not breath underwater...they are not mermen..err..dogs...As you first enter Atlantica you will notice that Donald has taken care of this problem, by transforming the party into sea creature versions of themselves. Also after meeting Ariel and Sebastian and learning how to swim, head towards Flounder a few times while fighting off the new Heartless. After beating the Heartless in this area, target the clam shell and attack it to reveal a Save Point. Use it and remember where it is, Save Points in Atlantica are few and far between. Also it is here you can first place Ariel in your party, go ahead you know you want to. She is really good and fighting the underwater Heartless. |
| Now follow the golden trident markings on the walls. If you follow these markings they will lead you right to where you are going. The Palace of King Triton. On your way there however there a few items you can pick up. It should be noted however that most of the items in Atlantica are found inside of clam shells and require opening in different fashions. |

| There is an alcove near the entrance which contains a Mega-Ether. In another alcove you will find a Cottage. On the raised area of the sea floor you can find a Mega-Potion. From where you gained the Mega-Potion just mentioned, find a cave underneath a ledge, inside this small cave you can find a Mythril. |
| As you follow the Golden Trident markings you will come to a passage with very strong currents. If you switch the camera angle with L2 you will notice that the marks head off to the next cave over, so as you swim into the current you must keep to the right as much as possible, since you have no control in the current besides left and right. The water in the current goes very fast, if you get swept past the correct cave you will come out in the Undersea Valley again and will just have to try again. Once you get into the cave defeat the Heartless, while avoiding the current heading up. Once finished head into the cave on the other side of this circular room, and enter into the Undersea Cave. There is a small alcove within which you can find a Cottage. Now continue following the tridents into the Undersea Gorge. |
| When you enter here you can either follow the tridents or go get some tresasures. To the left of the entrance and down below there is a clam to open. Inside is a Mythril Shard. Continue along the sea bed to find a Mega-Ether. There is a cave in the Undersea Gorge marked with a golden Trident on both walls, this is the path to Triton's Palace. Before heading in to see the Sea King however go to the left into a small cave, to enter into the Undersea Garden, where you can find a Mega-Potion. Once obtained, heda back out and into the Palace. |
| There are some stronger monsters in this area leading to Triton's Palace, so be warry and defeat them all. Once finished with the Heartless there are four clams in this area that are wanting to be opened. One contains a Mega-Ether, another has a Cottage, while still another holds an Elixer. If you shock the yellow clam with Thunder you can obtain another Mythril Shard. After gaining all the items, head forward towards the palace. After a short conversation attack the clam to open it and reveal another Save Point. |
| Curiosity |
| Head back now, to the Undersea Gorge area and find yourself a dolphin. Target this fella and ride him, if you don't ride him in this area, he will not appear in the Undersea Valley and you need him to, so go for a little ride. Head to back of the Gorge area and find a spot with a chest in the ground and a large rock blocking a cave. Have Sora move the rock aside and enter into Ariel's Grotto. NOTE: if you play Ariel's music box in her Grotto, it playes the prelude music for Final Fantasy! In the lower section of the room you can find a chest with a Mega-Potion inside, while the barrel on the right side of the room which can be broken for an Ether and some MP Balls. There are two more chest higher up, the first contains a Cottage while the highest of the chests contains another Torn Page for Merlin's Book. Also if you talk to Flounder he hints at ways of beating the current in some of the ocean caves. |
| Now head for the Calm Depths area and swim upward into the strong current. If you rode the dolphin in the Undersea Gorge you can now find him in this area the Undersea Valley. But before being able to ride him in here you must defeat all the Heartless, so get cracking. Once defeated find the dolphiin again in this area and grab on for a cool little ride, which takes the party into a cave near the source of the currents. Directly below the entrance to the Sunken Ship area you can find a capsized hull, holding a treasure chest with an Elixer. From here you can see another chest on the ocean floor, containing a Mythril Shard. Grab these items then head to the ship. While the party heads to the ship a shark attacks, fortuanetly for the party its to big to get inside the ship. Unfortuantely you have to leave the ship. Open the chest under the broken window to obtain the Crystal Trident. There is another chest hidden behind the box to left of the stairs, in it is another Mythril Shard. Also there is a lam in the Hull containing Mythril. Grab your items and prepare for a tough fight. |
| As your party leaves the boat the Shark attacks, you can run by swimming towards the cave next to a cross shaped mast comming out of the ocean floor, the shark will continue to re-appear in this area until you finally defeat the final enemy of Atlantica so keep this in mind while passing through here. If you choose to fight (a good choice) try to stay on the side of the shark and keep attacking with the Keyblade to take him down. Once he swims away he will leave one of many different combinations of three items, and Ether a Hi-Potion and a Mega-Potion. It should also be noted that every time you defeat the Shark he leaves behind items again. |
| Now that the shark has left swim to the back of the chamber and attack the light on the ground to activate anew current. This opens a hole above, swim up and open the chest to gain a nice Orichalcum. Now you should be near Ariel's Grotto so head back inside and swim up to the trident shapped recess in the wall. This will trigger a cut-scene in which Triton gets a tad bit pissed off. Now head back to the throne room where Triton mentions something important about Ursula, now pick your party members and head back to the sunken ship. |
| The shark is back so remove him as quickly as possibly. Now that the shark is gone head over to a large rock with an eel design onn it. Target it and Sebastian will help your party open a new doorway. This can only be done when the shark is gone. Now enter the new tunnel and head to Ursula's Lair. Swim through the Den of Tides until you get to a split in the path. Go to the right to gain a Mega-Ether and find a Save Point. Restore and save and prepare for a boss battle, assign Fira, Blizzara, and Thunder to Sora's magic slots. Now swim back to the intersection. Now follow the eel design on the wall to Ursula's Lair. |

| Ursula [HP)450] [EXP)1000], Flotsam & Jetsam [HP)60] [EXP)150] |
| This is a battle you will hate. In my personal opinion this is the hardest battle in the game. The key to defeating Ursula is to remember what Triton said about her magic, it is tied to her cauldron. Ursula's magic gives her an insanely high defense. Make sure Sora has Ethers in his item slots. Lock onto the Cauldron and blast it with magic, three blasts of the same spell in a row should cause it to backfire on Ursula and harm her. Be cautious though if she is the last to toss a magic into the cauldron it will not work, also she is tossing magics into the cauldron alot, so if you are loading up with Fire and she tosses a Thunder in, you gotta start over again. Every three spells cause the cauldron to produce a blast, just make sure its a blast that harms the Sea Witch. Once she is stunned from the blast attack her continuously until she gets back up with her high defense again, then just repeat the previous tactic to get the upper hand again. Also throughout this battle Ursula's two eels Flotsam and Jetsam are swimming around damaging your characters. You can pretty much leave them to Donald and Goofy, while you deal with the cauldron. After the battle is over Ariel gives the party the Mermaid Kick ability.
|
|
| After the battle leave and then re-enter the room. Hit the Sea Urchin with Fira to gain a Mythril. Now that you have the Mermaid Kick Shared Ability you can use it to swim upstream against strong currents. Unfortuantely during combat this ability can harm you since you use the "O" to control your ascent and this ability. Now head back to the Cavern Nook and use the Save Point there. Also restock your characters for another Boss battle. Don't forget to change Sora's spells to include Cure and Aero. Now head back to the Calm Depths area and use the Mermaid Kick to swim up the current into a new cavern on the other side of the stream labeled "???", now make sure Mermaid Kick is equipped you need it for this next battle. Once your ready enter into the new area. |
|
| Ursula [HP)900] [EXP)1500] |
| Damn that is one fat ugly big bi..errr...witch. Ursula is huge in this fight. The best way I found to take out Ursula in this form was to swim right up to her and get behind her head and swing like crazy on her big noggin. Every time she turns to face Sora, just use the Mermaid Kick and get behind her as quick as you can. This battle is alot easier than the previous, and Ursula should fall within a short period of time. If you are in front of Ursula when she begins to inhale water, turn away and begin using the Mermaid Kick to swim away, this should keep you at a safe distance and away from her huge cavernous mouth. Also when she raises the Trident she is about to spread a circle of magic around her, to avoid this just swim away as fast as possible. She should fall easily, and if not try tgo have some Megalixers equipped on Sora. |
|
| Once the large one has been deflated the trident is returned to King Triton and your Thunder spell becomes Thundara. Also you can now read Ansem's Report 3 in your journal. Now head back to Ariel's Grotto and move into the center of the room. Sora will now lock Atlantica from the Heartless and in return will recieve the Crabclaw Keychain. head back to King Triton's throne room and use the save point here to return to the gummi ship and head for Halloween Town. |
