| Welcome to Traverse Town, there are a few people in the town square so feel free to talk to them, and find out some info on where you are. Also note that there are some strange symbols that look like 3 hearts in certain areas, these are known as Trinity Marks, unfortuanetly you can't do anything with them...yet. Also if you look around a bit you will notice there are some items that are out of reach, this will be a common thing in Kingdom Hearts. There are many items that you can't reach your first time in an area, or world, and you will need to get a certain skill or spell to be able to obtain them. So when you see something that looks unatainable come back later with your new skills and see if you can get it then. |
| First District |
| If you also take note the first district (where you begin), has two shops in it. One an item and weapon shop run by Huey, Dewey and Louie. This is where you will come to buy Donald and Goofy new weapons later on. NOTE: While you are in the Item Store climb up the stairs and jump at the fan, if you swing your keyblade and hit it, you will get a Postcard. The other store in the First District is the Accessory shop (the one with the big double doors), this is where you will meet Cid, he tells you to look around Traverse Town, and maybe you will be able to find Riku and Kairi. Before you leave his shop jump up on the top shelf and open the chest for a Mythril Shard. There is a third shop in the First District, but you can't access it until much later. Also before you leave to look for your friends, go behind the Accessory shop and find the movable crate, move it near the shop and use it to jump higher and get on the roof of the shop from here you can obtain another chest on the roof, which contains a Postcard.
| I am sure you noticed the large mailbox on the right side of the stairs leading to Cid's Accessory shop. If you examine the mailbox you will learn about the Postcard sidequest. Basically there are a total of 10 postcards within Traverse Town if you can get them all and place all 10 inside this mailbox, you win prizes. This can be done at anytime and you don't need to wait till you have all 10 to mail them. As you collect them you can send them off, this is a great way to get some rare items early on.
| Second District |
| When you pass through the double doors into the Second District you will be attacked shortly there after. Shadows surround you quickly so take them out and continue on your search for items...and your friends too maybe. Also note that Shadows drop munny now along with HP balls, so pick up as much as you can and use it at the stores in the First District. Once you clear the area of Heartless you can leave and return to the district to make more appear. There are no shops open in the Second District, but there are some nice little items waiting to be plucked. First to the right of the entrance there is a store called Boots and Shoes jump to the awning above to retrieve a Postcard. Second if you jump across the roof/deck thing near the Gizmo shop (the big white building at the end of the area) and jump onto the Gizmo shop itself, on the small outcroppings, you can obtain the chest containing the Mega-Potion. NOTE: as you go into building in the second district and the third district for the first time (before going back to see Cid) you will see Donald and Goofy looking for someone known as Leon. |
| If you decide to go inside the Gizmo Shop, be prepared for fighting. There is a very large barrage of Shadows who will fight you inside, they continually respawn for quite awhile it seems like. Good experience and good training in fighting and dodging attacks though. Either way when you are done with the Gizmo Shop go to the Alleyway, by way of either the hotel or the doors on the lower level near the First District entrance. There is a chest around the corner from the lower entrance, this contains a Potion. There are two more chests in the Alleyway, first get up top by jumping up and flipping off the balconies. Now that you are up top go all the way to the left to get a Potion, then all the way back and hop off onto a narrow roof to get a Pretty Stone. |
| Now hop back down and go to the end of the Alleyway and go inside the Dalmations' House, where you meet Perdita and Pongo, who are lamenting over the loss of there 99 puppies. This is a sidequest which is very lucrative for you, plus it nets you an upgrade for your Aero spell you will want later. Anyway, basically the 99 dalmation puppies are scattered across all the worlds you will visit, find them inside treasure chests to have them return home. Once you find certain numbers of them, Pongo and Perdita will reward you with items. Check the Mini-Game section for full details on where all the puppies are and what you get by rescuing them. |
| Now you can either go to the third district or return back to Cid and tell him you can't find your friends. There is nothing in the Third District other than Shadows to fight, so if you want experience go there, otherwise just go back to Cid. When you do make sure you save before leaving his store, shortly after exiting you will be fighting the mysterious Leon that Donald and Goofy are looking for. |
| Leon [HP)120] [EXP)30] |
| NOTE: You don't need to win this fight to continue the story, but winning does get you some nice exp. Leon is really not that hard to beat, just watch out for his fire magic and his crazy jumps he seems to have increased his jumping ability since FF VIII.
| After the battle Sora passes out from exhaustion and wakes up inside a hotel room in the second district to the sound of Kairi...Kairi..thats not Kairi, its Yuffie, the "Great" Ninja...After coming too, Squall..err..Leon explains things a little more in detail, while Goofy and Donald talk to Aerith in the next room. As soon as you can move talk to Yuffie so that you can use the Keyblade to unlock things, such as blue treasure chests and keyholes. Make sure you use this new skill to open then blue chest on the table and get teh Elixer within. Now save, and talk to Leon, and new type of Heartless shows up, this is known as a Soldier. They now appear wherever you saw Shadows before. Leon and Sora jump into the alleyway from the hotel room, Leon tells Sora to forget about the small fry and find the leader. If you choose to listen to the crazy fool, be my guest, but if you do you loose out on much exp and munny. First off dont enter the Third District, if you do you will start the Boss fight and end the invasion of Heartless for awhile. This will definately hinder exp growth. First off take out all the Heartless in the Second District and then head into the First District, while there speak with Aerith, she will give you a Mega-Potion. Once you feel you are a high enough level (try for at least 15 you can fight the Boss at a lower level but at 15 you will beat him easily). |
| Third District |
| After entering the Third District be prepared for a boss fight. After being landed on, by Donald and Goofy, the Boss appears and your first party fight occurs. |
| Guard Armor [HP)700] [EXP)110] |
| Guard Armor has five targets, 2 arms, 2 legs and the torso or midsection. Each section has its own HP and all of them need to be destroyed to defeat it. Also all 4 limbs must be destroyed before you can harm the torso, and when they are destroyed they will drop a huge amount of HP balls, so use this to your advantage if you need to get some HP back. Since this is the first battle with party members other than Sora, realize that battle just got a little more complicated, make sure you watch Donald and Goofy's HP meters and make sure that they get Potions when they need them. Granted they come with items equipped, but they tend to use them up pretty quickly so just keep an eye on them if the battle takes longer than expected. Once you defeat Guard Armor, you recieve the Brave Warrior Accessory. |
| Congrats, on your latest win over evil, now to properly meet your new friends. Donald is a spell caster while Goofy uses his shield to bash enemies into submission. Also now it is time to get some really fun things you couldn't before. First off Donald teaches Sora the Fire spell, and Goofy teaches Sora the Dodge Roll Ability, equip this ability now, its very useful. Back in the First District after getting your new skills, Leon and company give your new party 100 munny to spend (woohoo big spender that Leon), Leon also gives Sora an Elixer. Now take a stroll over to one of the Blue Trinity Marks in the First District, now you find out that while Donald and Goofy are in your party you can activate them. Do so to get some munny and a Postcard. Go back to the Accessory shops back door, and jump into the small area next to it, with the blue chest, unlock it for a Postcard. Back in the Second District, go back inside the hotel, if you didn't already and obtain the chest in the Red Room, which contains a Pretty Stone, and go into the Green Room and strike the clock above the door until it reads 7:00 this will cause a chest to appear across the room containing a Mythril. Also go back into the Gizmo Shop and go through its back door and up the now fixed ladder (thank the moogle in the town square for fixing it). Go across the narrow bridge and jump to the next building from rooftop to rooftop until you reach a door thing to the Third District go in to appear on a balcony overlooking the Third District, hit R2 to lock onto a hidden item, examine it to obtain a Postcard. |
| Now that you have, or at least should have 6 Postcards, make sure you mail them all before leaving, to get some good items. Also from you escapades throughout town you now have munny to spend, take the time to go to Cid and buy some Accessories for your new friends. When you feel you are done in Traverse Town head out the double doors in the center of the town square or use the save point in Cid's Store to go to the gummi ship (most save points allow you to do this). Once in the gummi ship Chip and Dale will explain the basics of using the ship to travel between worlds, also note the stars above each world, this is their Battle Level Rating, basically the more stars the harder the enemies on that world. For this walkthrough I will be going to the worlds in Battle Level order, in other words, I go to the easiest world first then the next highest and so on. So first head to Wonderland by going on the upper path. |
