Good morning sleepy head. Welcome to the Destiny Islands, you awaken from your strange dream on the beach of a small island, next to your friend Kairi. Your best friend Riku shows up shortly after to declare both you and Kairi lazy. Once you gain control of Sora, walk around a bit and get the lay of the land, there are no monsters here...yet... so don't worry. You can however engage in fights with the three Final Fantasy misfits who seem to have been dropped strangely on this island to gain experience and levels, also you can fight Riku...though I wouldn't recommend it until you get to at least level 5 or 6 and have confidence in your fighting skills. Just so you know your fights with these characters are mock fights, you gain exp and tech points which are extra exp. but if you loose it doesn't count against you (a.k.a. you won't die).
Name HP Strategy
Wakka - Wakka is the easiest of the three you can fight. He is also the best one to fight since you can get a buttload of tech points from fighting him, and the more tech points you get the quicker you level. Basically when you start your fight with him stand far enough away so that you can see him throw his blitzball, but can easily deflect it back with your wooden sword. If you can hit the blitzball you gain one tech point, plus when it hits Wakka it hurts him. Also if you manage to deflect his power attack (he jumps in the air and throws the blitzball alot faster at you) you get 2 tech points).
Selphie - Selphie has the least amount of HP of all three Final Fantasy characters..and for good reason...she sucks. I hated her in Final Fantasy VIII and she is jsut as annoying in this game, so I greatly enjoyed trouncing her over and over again. Basically for her just jump and attack her, if you are lucky and can time it right you can block her nunckuku attack (its not a whip) this will gain you a tech point.
Tidus - Tidus is the toughest out of the Final Fantasy kids, and for good reason, though he weilds a staff in this, game he uses it like a sword. He is very quick and likes to attack from behind. If you can block his attack you get 2 tech points, this is a very tough thing to do, because of his speed and constant jumping around. Defeat him and you can challenge all three of them at the same time.
The Trio(Tidus, Wakka, and Selphie) Each has the same HP as before. Now this is a tough fight. Now there are 2 ways you can do this, one way is to get in and get out as fast as possible. To do this, when the fight starts get as close to Wakka as possible and keep attacking till he goes down, then go for Tidus then Selphie, she tends to stay farther away then the rest for some reason. The other way is the way I enjoy doing it, this way gets you more exp, than the previous method. In this method start the fight and take out Selphie first, then go for Tidus and try to block his attacks as often as possible, after they are down take Wakka out the same way as mentioned above, by deflecting his blitzball attacks. For winning this fight you get a Potion. You can continually get Potions this way.
Riku - Your best friend, and your greatest rival...in all things apparently. The hardest single fight, and comparable to the trio fight in difficulty. I wouldn't attempt to fight Riku until at least level 5 and only then if you can best all three of the Final Fantasy kids seperatly, and Tidus with little effort. Riku is as fast if not faster than Tidus, also when you attack him he will fall back on the ground at the end of your combo and do a jumping foot kick directly at you to get back up, this is an amazingly powerful attack and to avoid it, jump as soon as your combo ends. Riku has a tendancy to announce when he is about to attack, use this to your advantage and attack at the same time, to defend his attack, with your own, this will get you 2 tech points. Riku normally stops attacking for a little bit and taunts you, use this time to pound him, when he does start attacking again just block his hits and attack whenever there is an opening, he tends to jump alot so make sure he stays Locked On. Also as a side note, you can loose this fight by leaving the platform you are fighting on, whether it be by Riku's hand or your own jumping mistakes, either way you lose the fight. Also the fight with Riku and the later race with him are recorded for some reason, it has no bearing on the story, other than Sora's own bragging rights. You will a Potion for defeating Riku in battle.
Once you have had some fun with the Final Fantasy kids and you've surveyed the land a bit, talk to Kairi again, she is standing in front of a door around the corner of the shed. She mentions that you need to gather supplies for the trip, she then gives you a list of things to find on the island and bring back to her.
  • Log (x2)
    • Find the first one on the beach near where you wake up.
    • Find the second one on the platform where Riku is resting in a tree.
  • Cloth
    • Find this insde of the hut up in the tree on the west side of the island. It is on the wall just walk up to it and you will take it.
  • Rope
    • Find this on the platform that Tidus is practicing on.
Now take all the items back to Kairi, she will award you with a Hi-Potion and then ask if you are ready to call it a day. Say yes and you get to watch a seen between Sora, Kairi, and Riku.

Disney Castle
Events unfold and you meet more of the cast...but onto more with Sora and friends...

Ahh...morning. Everything is the same as the day before only now Kairi isn't blocking the door anymore and Tidus has moved to the platform where Riku was the previous day. Fight some more if you want but eventually you need to go through the door that Kairi was previously blocking. On the other side there is Riku waiting, speak to him and choose a name for your raft (this name will later be the name of a gummi ship design). He will challenge you to a race, but he quickly makes a strange bet on it, before you can disagree Kairi shows up and starts the race.
Basically the race is a joke, you have to beat Riku to the star plant, touch the star and race back to Kairi. The first couple times I raced I lost, I kept falling and..well it was just messy lets put it that way. Anyway, I finally decided to not talk to Riku first and to skope out the course first, when I did, I found an unbeatable way to get to the end. Just as Kairi mentions you can get there by any way you choose, so I chose the low road. Riku always follows the basic course, but instead of racing with him, I raced under him. As soon as the race starts run to the right and jump down, now run straight, go up the stairs jump off the wall and straight past the raft and up the ramp, now jump across 3 plant tops hit the star, jump all the way down and go back to the left jump up the wall and back to Kairi. I suggest doing this a couple times before talking to Riku just to get the timing of the jumps right and all. If you follow this path you will never loose. When you win the race you get a Pretty Stone, if you win 99 times you will have 99 Pretty Stones, these items are not needed for anything, but you can sell them for 30 munny each when you get to Traverse Town, so if you win 99 times you will have close to 3000 munny from the start.
After the race, whether you won or lost, speak to Kairi on the raft, she mentions that you need to gather some provisions for the trip, she will give you a list of what to get and an empty bottle to put water in. Gather the provisions and bring them back to Kairi.
  • Mushroom (x3)
    • First one is in a cave near Kairi and the raft, just push the rock aside and pick it up off the ground inside the little cave.
    • The second one is near the tower with the zip line, its on the right side of the tower near the ladder up.
    • The last one is in the Secret Place Wakka mentions (make this the last item you get, something important happens there)
  • Coconut (x2)
    • Both of these can be obtained from hitting any of the coconut trees on the island they look different from the normal coconuts that fall and when you walk on them they are picked up not moved.
  • Fish (x3)
    • Run around in the water at the beach and pick up any three fish you see.
  • Drinking Water
    • Go in either area of water with a water fall there is one near the Secret Place and one along the racing path, walk around in the water near the waterfall till you get it.
  • Seagull Egg
    • this is up in a tree near the door to the shed, climb on the roof of the shed and then jump onto the tree and climb up, and jump onto the top of the tree to get your fresh bird egg.
Ok now that Kairi has all the provisions she once again gives you a Hi-Potion. Make sure you are at least level 5 by now. Tell her its once again time to call it a day.

Disney Castle
Events at the castle are unfolding again. Now meet more of the cast and begin to understand the fate of the characters...well not really...but it sounds like it would be nice to know now doesn't it...

Back on Destiny Islands some back things are happening, an evil storm is attacking the island and those strange creatures from your dream are there, and whats worse is you can't find Riku or Kairi anywere (strangely enough Tidus, Wakka and Selphie are also gone, but nobody seems to care about them...hmm...). Go back to where Riku was on the first day (up in the tree) he is waiting for you there, and eventhough you may want to fight the Shadows...don't you can't hurt them with your wooden sword.
When you reach Riku, watch the seen and be very happy, you just became the Keyblade Master. Now you can kick Shadow butt, so get to it. Fight them to your hearts content. You recieve your first ability at level 9 and if you chose the Sword as your weapon in your dream then I would suggest getting to level 9 or 12 because the 2 skills you learn at those levels are very useful in the boss fight. Also Shadows can and will drop Potions so if you don't already have 99 from fighting the trio and Riku now is as good a time as any to stock up on free items. By the way after you basically clear the island of shadows, just go inside the shack with the save point and they will all come back again. Once you feel as though you have gained enough exp. and levels, examine the new door that is blocking the Secret Place...damn a boss..lol oh right its him again...

Darkside [HP)300] [EXP)60]
Basically this fight is the same as the last one, only he has a couple more HP and a new attack to watch out for. His new attack makes a gravity ball which unleashes spheres of energy which you have to dodge...not hard. Basically just do what you did in the last fight with him, if you got to level 9 and you chose the Sword in your dream then you have an extra swing with your new toy the Keyblade. This means extra damage so have fun. Once you take him down again some crazy scenes occur and end up in Traverse Town being awakened by Pluto.
